Guide Right Students Intern at Fermi Lab

Pictured, bracketing the students from L – R, are Mr.John Kent (Fermi Supervisor) Brothers Leonard Schwartz (Frequently at Bartlett HS), Bob Engram (Guide Right Chair and Coordinator - South Elgin and East Aurora HSs), Harry Duncan (Regularly at Bolingbrook HS), and Phil Ferguson (DY Foundation Chair).

The MWAC Guide Right Program serves four west suburban Chicago area high schools. A goal of the program is to introduce the students to college and professional opportunities. The picture shown was taken at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, in Batavia, Illinois, where high-energy physics experiments are conducted. Featured in the picture are Fermi supervisor Mr. John Kent with South Elgin HS students Brandon Stevens and Jonathan Oderinde. Both students are honor roll seniors and carry a 4.0 plus grade point average. Brandon, in his second summer at Fermi, was previously in the Target Program at Fermi, which was designed to interest HS students in science careers. The Guide Right Program also takes the students on local college and university tours and connects the students to scholarship opportunities. Approximately 150 young men are involved with the program, thus far this year.
